English Language Arts Research Projects:
English 9 - Research and Splice
The English 9 research project is based on students developing global awareness and beginning the vertical alignment structure that will be needed in all English classes. Students rotate through stations to complete a handout and select a topic, research with the database Global Issues in Context and create a public service announcement using the iOS app Splice.

English 12 - Research and Technology Integration
Students follow the Macrorie iSearch method for their final research project. School librarians use a pre-assessment to determine students research process skills at the start of the project. Then students use a word cloud (Tagxedo) in the topic choice part of the research process, they use NoodleTools to organize their sources, and they present their final work with a "new to them" presentation tool.

Other English Language Arts Projects:
Creative Writing - iPads!
Creative Writing is a great opportunity for collaboration! We do a variety of projects with the class utilizing imagery, poetry and technology. We also recently did a short sci-fi/fantasy reading intro lesson with the class.

Sci-Fi/Fantasy Lit Circles - students were introduced to science fiction/fantasy independent reading options and then used a PostCard app on iPod Touches. After an introduction to sci-fi fantasy books and a series of book talks, students browsed and then checked out. They spent about 20 minutes reading and getting into their book and then checked out an iPod Touch to complete this EXIT PASS.
